Sack Lunches...

Right before I went down for the count with what is supposedly now Typhoid, I was able to take a group of kids off campus on our Outreach Day to visit our Precious Veggie Ladies and surprise and Bless them in Jesus Name with a sack lunch... The kids and I were able to make lunches that included hamburgers, cookies, an apple, and a soda. The kids made them cards too! The helped with all of it! So much fun!!!

Ben is in my class :) He wanted to help with the little kids :)

Delivery Time...

The women were so excited, they sang and danced for us of course!!!

This is also where I get all my vegetables and fruit...

Theresa is my favorite veggie lady. She is such a joy and an encouragement to my heart. Whenever I go to see her she gives me bananas :)

My Kenyan Bug...

Dear Family,
I am happy to report that I am able to sit up in bed after 7 days and am so excited to finally greet you all. I now have a new understanding of the “body of Christ” that we are called to be part of. Thank you for being that for me. Thank you for your outpouring of love and prayer in my behalf and surrendering me to the mighty and healing hand of Jesus. Your emails, messages, and phone calls have been just opportunity after opportunity to witness the Body of Christ in action.
During this time of my random “Kenyan Bug”, (that I hope to never have to experience ever again), God has done a huge work on my body and heart. While it is so hard to become sick in a place that is not “home”, and brought to the place I fear the most, “the dreaded hospital”, God continually has brought my heart back to a place of perfect peace, and when I thought I did not have what I needed to get through another moment, He once again was always enough.
I have never felt so loved and encouraged by both you and my Lord. So many precious people here with me in Kenya have spoken truth into me and have been a huge comfort as well. They have prayed with me and have done an excellent job playing “mom”. I could not be more thankful for all of you in America and right here in Kenya with me. (And I got to talk to my mom every day since last Thursday too!)
Sitting and being silent at Jesus’ feet (because I had no other choice at first :) ) has been a crucial time for me here in Kenya. Through his compassion and mercy I have truly known the presence of my Almighty God. I certainly wish I could have done this without the sick part of it, but this time has brought continued hope and complete certainty that Kenya is home for me for a while longer. God has remained so good to me. I was reminded right before I fell prey to this evil “Kenyan bug” that I can truly say, God has been faithful to keep every promise he has made to me before leaving America and even now.

My friend here at RVA, shared a passage of scripture with me the other night…be encouraged, we serve a Good God!

“I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. I was overcome by trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the Lord” “O Lord, save me!” The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The Lord protects the simple-hearted; when I was in great need, he saved me. Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you. For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living. How can I repay the Lord for ALL his goodness to me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord. I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people. O Lord, truly I am your servant; you have freed me from my chains. Praise the Lord!”- Psalm 116

Much Love,
Cassie

Sarah

Dear Family and Friends,
Many of you have heard, one of my close friends here at RVA, Sarah, has been in the hospital since Monday. They have diagnosed her with Typhoid. Up until today she had not responded to the medication. It was such an answer to prayer and a purely the work of God to see her smile today and sit up in bed. We are "cautiously encouraged" as our superidendent said today. I have been with her through the past weeks and it was the best I've seen her in a long time. PLEASE join me in covering her in prayers. Please pray for her physical, emotional and spiritual health. Also please pray for her parents back in the states. We do serve a good God, none of this is a surprise to Him, and therefore we are trusting him for his supernatural wisdom for the doctors and his healing hand on Sarah. Nakupenda sana (I love you very much).

Resting in His Love and Faithfulness,
Cassie

Cooking Baking Day

Since I have arrived here, God has encouraged me with a person who is so dear to my heart. Scovia, is my hired house help and a new friend. Living here in Kenya, it is important to be able to hire nationals in order to provide jobs for so many that do not have a position to earn money for their family. So many are single mothers making barely enough for rent and food. Scovia is a single mother of one, Michael. Michael is in class 7 and will be 13. They are both such special gifts and we have been able to spend more time together outside of her work time. Another family here at RVA also has her in their house and so this last week we all got together to just spend time with Scovia and Michael and baked and painted cookies... Abby and Scovia are making the "paint" for the cookieshere, simply egg yoke and food coloring with a dash of water.

The day was so much fun. Good quality time, we even got to play outside together and have lunch.

When my brother and sister came out a few weeks ago, they brought a vortex football that has become popular around campus during vacation....so here is Andrew attempting to catch the ball :)
He decided to stick with his rocket insteadWith the monthly support I receive, I am able to pay Scovia for her time....You are blessing her and Michael beyond what you can comprehend. You put food on the table and literally a roof over their heads. Michael is able to go to school and have clothes to wear. Thank you for being part of helping this precious family in Kenya. These two are in love with the Lord andd they are so thankful to God for you and the way God has provided for them through you back in America. Please keep Scovia and Michael in your prayers as we have received alot of rain this last week, but are still in need to fill the wells around here, including that of Scovia and Michaels.
